Books, pictures, and some sounds are good as the early educational instrument, but as they are getting older, they can also be introduced to some computer software that aimed to educate children. Many major produced have created educational software for children. Disney for example, has created many children educational software that are based on their characters. Some other educational software producers have also made interesting software for your children.

And then as they are getting older, you can introduce them to some computer games that have educational values. In here we are not talking about shooting or fighting game that only teach our children violence, but we are talking about some strategy games that help children to solve problems. Games like SimCity, teaches us how to build a town and how to manage it. In here the children will also be taught to manage the cities financial in case something unexpected happens. Other game like the Railroad tycoon is also very educated for children.

To send children to school to get a proper education is a must, since education will be a very important thing that will help the children to face their future. And the only place where children can get proper education is school. That is the opinion of most people, but actually there is an alternative to school in order to get proper education.

The alternative is called home schooling. Home schooling is a method of teaching the children in their own house without an obligation to attend the school. There are many reasons why parents choose their children to be home schooled rather than going to public school. To shape a better morale and attitude is the main reason. The other reason is the objection of what the teachers teach, this can worry the parent, so it is better to home school their children

In most countries in the world, home schooling is legal and is supervised under the department of education. In some countries, failed to send their children to school can make the parents go to jail. In the countries that legalize home schooling, the teachers that teach in home schooling program must have a special certification that proves their ability to be a home school teacher.

Continuing to study at university after graduating from high school is almost a must for today’s condition. Today, to find a job is very difficult due to lack of job opportunities but with an overwhelming number of job seekers. This uneven condition makes many people fight stringer to find a job. One way to win the competition is by getting as high as possible education.

For some people going to university to study is not a problem, as long as they have the money they can go in. but what about people that are very busy and also what about people who live in a place that is too far away from the campus, will they have the chance to be admitted in the university? The answer is yes because now, besides the famous distance learning, there are also virtual campuses that are relatively new. No bricks, no buildings, just a website that become the campus. These kinds of campuses conduct the whole program online. Unlike the distance learning program which still have some in class meeting, this virtual campus conduct all by the means of internet

Since the era of virtual campus is still relatively new, there are still questions that are raised about the quality of this virtual campus. Before we choose one, we need to learn more about the background of the campus, including the online teaching certification that owned by the lecturers.

Education is very important for all people. People believe that the higher the education the better their future will be. But actually education is not solely for the sake of a better future. People with high curiosity will learn as much as he or she can regardless what will their future will be.

And since the world is keep changing, the subjects or the majors that offered by most universities and other educational institutions are keep adding more and more. In line with the technology development, the learning subjects are keeps adding. Unfortunately, not all universities can offers complete subject to the students. This makes the students have to carefully choose in which university they want to study. And as an alternative, you the students cannot attend on site, to the class, he or she can do distance learning.

Distance learning is more and more popular right now. Thanks to the technology. We can use internet to meet the lecturer, do the assignment etc. but two ways of communication is not a must. Emails, letters, cassette, and DVD can be also used as learning materials. From the legal aspect, this kind of courses have the same position as the conventional courses, so if you are restricted by the distance of the time in attending the class try distance learning.

Two student teams from Northview Heights Secondary School in North York and a team from Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute beat out 16 other Toronto-area high school teams to win, place and show in a unique skills competition that tested students’ automotive technical knowledge.

Kevin Birchall and Eric Salb performed a number of timed technical tasks and attempted to start a 2009 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible that had been rigged with a no-start condition by automotive instructors from Centennial College. The Canadian International AutoShow hosted the competition on Feb. 11. By finishing first, the pair will be representing Canada at the National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City in April.

In addition to the all-expenses-paid trip, Birchall and Salb collected a trophy and equipment from sponsors. Northview Heights was also represented by Brandon Muff and Vali Ion, who finished second. Toronto’s Danforth Tech finished third, thanks to the efforts of students Jordan Ho and Tauriq Shaikh.

Both schools were big winners, too. Their auto tech classes will take delivery of a General Motors vehicle, which will be used for technical training. General Motors of Canada donated two brand-new vehicles as prizes.

This was the 10th year for the contest, organized by Centennial’s School of Transportation, which promotes automotive technology as a rewarding career path. Last year’s winners, Janos Mann and Julien Predas from Central Technical School, went on to beat all of the American schools at the New York competition and took home $250,000 in prizes and scholarship money!

Despite the economic downturn, the Toronto skills contest continues to enjoy outstanding support from the industry. Sponsors include: TADA, the Canadian International AutoShow, General Motors Canada, Volkswagen Canada, Snap-On/Sun Tools, Consulab, Canadian Tire, PartSource, Ryder Truck, Thomson Nelson, Pearson Education, AutoKnowledge, TecMate and Centennial College.

Children with disabilities sometimes can not access the education they need due to the limited amount of special schools. Special schools for children with disability are also usually located in the center of the town which can not be reached by people from rural areas, despite these unlucky children’s desire to enjoy education.

Knowing this problem, regular school must attempt to help. Regular schools are much more in number than special schools. But, regular schools do not receive children who need special treatments like children with Down syndrome and autism. It is the time for regular school to consider accepting children who need special treatment. Teachers in regular schools also have to open their mind and heart to accept these difficult students. Blending students with disabilities with “normal” students as if they are equal could be a very good treatment for them.

Moreover, there are theories that stated that the best treatment and education for children with disabilities are to blend them with other “normal” children. In some kindergartens and elementary schools which blend normal children with disabled children, the teachers said that children with autism and Down syndrome have better progress. These children would feel challenged to catch their “normal” friends’ progress.

Teachers are one of the most people who influence children on their early ages. Teachers are the role model, since they are the ones who guide and train children, and the one in which children put respect for. Thus, teachers must be very comprehensive and respectable.

However, to be a teacher is one of the latest choices made by youth in developing countries. Teacher is not a favorite profession in those countries, because the most favorable profession is the one which can make a lot of money like merchant and tradesmen. Thus, the teachers in developing countries were less intelligent youths.

However, teachers have to fulfill basic requirements. The eight teaching skills purposed by Turney in 1973 include important basic requirements for teachers. Among these skills, there is the questioning skill which requires a teacher to be able on asking intelligent questions. Intelligent questions can stimulate students to find the answers of the course and thus, learn faster. Teachers are also required to be able to explain the subject clearly. The explanation must be able to be digested by students, relevant with the subject of the course, and can stimulate the students to be interested with the material. Department of Education in developing countries must consider these requirements to improve their education system.
